CP OnHand Install Instructions

Pocket PC and Palm Mobile Devices

To download the CP OnHand installation program, please follow the steps below.

  1. Review the hardware and memory requirements before proceeding. If you have questions about installation requirements please call, 1-800-375-0943, ext. 1, or send email to support@goldstandard.com.
  2. Make sure your PDA is connected to your computer through a cradle or cable device.
  3. Make sure your PDA synchronization software is installed and running on your computer.
  4. Turn on your PDA.
  5. If you have not already done so, navigate your browser to http://www.clinicalpharmacologyonhand.com and log in using your Gold Standard username and password.
  6. Select the download software link to start the download.
  7. When the download dialog box appears, select the option to save the file. Be sure to note the name of the file and where the file is being saved on your computer.
  8. When the download is complete, navigate to the downloaded file and double click on it to open it.

From this point forward you have several options. Please read ALL of the options available to you before proceeding with the installation. Keep in mind the hardware and space requirements for each option before making your selection.

Pocket PC/Windows Mobile Users

There are several install packages for Pocket PC/Windows Mobile users. Below are the different options and memory requirements for each however you must have 25 MB free memory on your PDA to install the program to it.

Continue now with the installation:

  1. After reading the installation directions, click "Next" to continue.
  2. Read the license terms and if you agree to them, click "yes" to accept.
  3. Next you will be prompted for a location to save the update program to your computer. This software will be used to download updates to your PDA. Click "next" to accept the default location, or change the location and then hit "next".
  4. The installer will ask you where you want to setup the start shortcut for the program in your Start Menu. Accept the default or change the location and click "next".
  5. On the next screen you have the option of installing CP OnHand either into Main Memory (default) or to an external storage device such as a Secure Digital (SD) memory card. The installer will ask you to select a location on the PDA to save the program. As long as you have 25 MB of free space, you may choose your desired location.

The installer will now finish the installation. It is very important that the installer be allowed to finish without interruption. You will receive an "Installation Complete" message when the installation is complete. To use your new program, go to the start menu on your PDA, and look for the CP OnHand icon.

Palm Users

There are several install packages available for Palm devices. Below are the different options and memory requirements for each however due to the size of the program, we do not recommend installing it into internal memory unless you have a 32 Mb or higher unit.

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PALM OS 5.4***

Due to the changes made to Palm’s file system you will no longer be able to install CP OnHand to main memory on any device that runs Palm OS 5.4. This includes the Tungsten T5, Tungsten E2 and the Treo 650. The program must be installed to either a) an external SD card or b) the internal “flash memory” on the device.

Continue now with the installation:

Palm for Windows:

  1. Click on the “Install CP OnHand to Device” button.
  2. You will get a message to hotsync your PDA- click Ok.
  3. The installer will now finish the installation. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the size of the database files, install times can vary widely from device to device. Older units will take longer to install to. It is very important that the installer be allowed to finish without interruption.

Palm for Macintosh:

Please note: Clinical Pharmacology OnHand may not work on recent versions of Mac OS 10.4

  1. You may need to drag the downloded file onto the Stuffit Expander icon, usually preloaded on computer, to unstuff the downloaded file before continuing. This will create a new folder at the same location.
  2. Open this newly created folder, and double click on PalmSync.app.
  3. The CP OnHand Synchronization window will appear. Choose the user to install this for (in most cases, there will only be one).
  4. Choose a location for install. Generally, it is recommended to use an external memory card for the destination because of the size of the program. Be sure the memory card has sufficient space available on it (reference requirements table above).
  5. Click on the “Install CP OnHand to Device” button. You will get a message to hotsync your PDA- click Ok.
  6. It is very important that the installer be allowed to finish without interruption.
